I’m moving into 2023 with no resolutions or big declarations, just a couple of reminders.
Right now I’m having a studio sale! Shop it here. It includes select paintings and prints.
To wrap up last year I asked followers to share advice they would give their young selves. I’ve asked this question before and have always loved the tenderness of the responses. There is lightness and humor but also vulnerability. I think the responses are sage advice for any age:
Hold on to your current level of confidence and self-belief
Stop delaying gratification
Think about starting to network
Your body is your best friend, not your enemy
Spend every minute with your friends that you can
No one is too hot for you
Find a therapist and stick with therapy even after you start feeling better
Chill
Don’t be so hard on yourself; life is easier this way
There are few things more soothing to me than listening to the same song for hours. I’m not the only one who likes to do this! Here’s a crowdsourced playlist of current on-repeat loop songs this month. Maybe one of these songs can be your new obsession.
For the past few years I’ve offered tiny winter mood drawings for sale. They are part of my effort to have a minimal waste studio practice and to share something small, seasonal and affordable. The titling process for each drawing is one part of this ritual that I enjoy most.
The titles often capture a song lyric that is stuck in my head, a strange news headline (all of them are strange these days) or a recurring phrase I keep uttering.

If you’re interested in being a tester for an Avery-designed puzzle, please respond to this email with your mailing address. Unfortunately, I only have a few puzzles so first-come first-served!
Thank you for reading and supporting my work!
Thank you for your newsletter! yes to no resolutions. The reminder of "what if this goes really well?" made me stop and think and how much I don't ask myself that. :)
