Earlier this year, I was commissioned by the University of Michigan Concussion Center to create an installation to visualize the concussion recovery experience. I’ve never experienced a concussion so when I thought about this project from a creative perspective, I wanted to figure out ways to co-create with people recovering from concussions so their voices could be present in the work. This project pushed my practice and allowed me to experiment with new processes for making public work. Today the project is one of the featured stories on the University of Michigan homepage! You can read all about it in this Michigan News article. I also made a video documenting my research and creative process and you can watch it here.
I’m grateful to the University of Michigan Concussion Center, School of Kinesiology and Arts Initiative for funding this project.
